JoAnn Marie Vaughn 
June 15, 1944 - May 17, 2011

JoAnn Marie Vaughn, 66, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011.  She was born June 15, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, lived in Houston and then resided the last thirty-two years in Beaumont.  JoAnn was a legal secretary for Fulbright, Crooker, Bates and Jaworski for several years until her first child was born.  She then embarked on her beloved career as a fulltime mom and homemaker.

 

JoAnn was a member of Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center for over thirty years and had been an adult Sunday school teacher for twenty-five years.  She was very active in women’s ministries, serving on committees and lending her creative skills in multiple areas.  JoAnn was a founding member of the Christian Women’s Club of Beaumont and served them diligently to her last days.  In this ministry she had served as chairman, speaker and area adviser.  JoAnn helped develop and plant multiple home Bible study groups.

 

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Doug Vaughn of Beaumont; son, Patrick Vaughn and his wife, Katrina of Beaumont; daughter, Laurie Thomas and her husband, Wade “Chip” of Conroe; son,  Michael Vaughn of Beaumont; and grandchildren, Gabriel, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Hunter.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and James Durel.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:15 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at Cathedral in the Pines, 2350 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont with a family committal to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church.
