Agnes Guillory Allemond
July 19, 1922 - May 12, 2011

Agnes Guillory Allemond, 88, of China, passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly reward on Thursday, May 12, 2011.  Born in Jennings, Louisiana, she made her home in China, Texas for the majority of her lifetime.  Her later years were spent in Kingwood with her daughter and son-in-law.  Later, requiring twenty-four hour care, they had to bring her Regent Care of Kingwood where she spent her last days.

Mom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved this “Cajun Queen” of such elegance and grace.  She was an example for us all, so gentle and kind.  Agnes had a great big heart full of love and compassion and took great pride in “whipping out” those pure Cajun dishes.  She could keep us in stitches with her little sayings and her pure love of life.  Those little brown eyes could really shine!  Nothing kept her from enjoying any chance she got to snag a get away outing or any opportunity to just enjoy life.  We believe that her real life has just begun.  Her favorite song of all time was Amazing Grace and her faith in the Lord was strong.

Survivors include her daughter, Jerry Allemond Colston and her husband, James of New Caney; son, Henery Joseph Allemond and his wife, Darlease of China; grandchildren, James Burt LeJune, Jr., Faye Ellen Duke, Marilyn Grantham, Linda Murchison, Diana Solis, Jeffery LeJune, Angela Majarus, Amy Jones, Christina White and Marianne Leger; seventeen great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Andrew Allemond; and daughter, Betty Ann LeJune.

Her graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at China Cemetery in China under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at Broussard’s.

The family sends thanks and appreciation to Regent Care of Kingwood and Kingwood Medical Center Staff.
