James Terry Brady, 68, passed away April 27, 2011, after a valiant battle with Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer. He died at Clairmont Nursing Home surrounded by friends and family. James was born September 4, 1942, the eldest son of Virginia Brady and the late Jim Brady.
He is survived by five siblings, Joe Brady and his wife, Carolyn of Rowlett, Texas, David Brady and his wife, Beth of Beach City, Texas, Becky Burleson, James’ primary care giver and her husband, Al of Lumberton, Merle Sehon, also of Lumberton, and Valarie Brady Prigg of Memphis, Tennessee. James also leaves many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
While a resident at Clairmont, James enjoyed participating in all the activities and events. He “called” Bingo, danced to 50’s music, and joined his friends at the casino and restaurants. James looked forward to the weekly church services with Bro. James and Bro.Phillips. His very favorite event was playing Santa Claus at Christmas. We were all so glad this past Christmas that he was able to play the role he loved once more.
James had an indomitable spirit and unfailing honesty that enabled him to persevere in spite of his special needs and to make friends everywhere he went. He loved to watch John Wayne, Tom & Jerry, and NASCAR racing. He especially enjoyed late night visits and treats with his niece, Amy Young, and great nephew, Grayson. James will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Professional Health Care Hospice, especially Sydney Cornwell, Neva Hollyfield, Shirley Ellis and Destany Roy for all the loving care you gave to James.
A memorial service will be held at Clairmont Nursing Home, 1020 S. 23rd St., Saturday May 7th at 2:30p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of Clairmont Nursing Home or to the Professional Health Care Foundation 2533 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77702.
