Rena Mae Toloudis 
July 4, 1928 - April 3, 2011

Rena Mae Toloudis, 82, of LaBelle, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

 

She was born in Stowell, on July 4, 1928, to Emma Boudreaux Miller and Joseph Miller, and was the youngest of their thirteen children. Rena had been a resident of LaBelle for sixty-two years and graduated from Fannett as valedictorian in 1947. She was a lifetime member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fannett where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Altar Society.  Rena was a member of numerous organizations such as the Catholic Youth Organization where she served from 1964-1971. She served as president of DCCW from 1985-1987, and president of Port Arthur District Council of Catholic Women in 1997.

 

Rena served as Regent of Catholic Daughters of America; Rena received the Christian Ministerial Alliance Community Service Award in 1994.  She was a member of the Senior Citizens Organization in Fannett for thirty-five years, and was a member of the LaBelle-Fannett Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rena was on the board of the American Cancer Society and also spent time working with Boys’ Haven.

 

She had been a voting election judge with Precinct 31 for over forty years.  Amongst all that she dedicated her time to, Rena holds most dear to her heart the prayer blanket ministry she started years ago.  She had made over one hundred and fifty blankets for her sick friends which she distributed personally.

 

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Gus Toloudis of LaBelle; daughters, Brenda Oliver Vessels and her husband Charles of Beaumont, and Ranell Revia and her husband Roger of Hamshire; grandchildren, Lance Revia and his wife Courtney of LaBelle, Jason Revia and his wife Tammy of League City, Chad Revia and his wife Nichole of Mont Belvieu, Jade Oliver of New York,  Nigel Vessels of Houston, Melody Cruze and her husband Brandon of Knoxville, Tennessee; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Bishop DeCoux and her husband Leo of Groves.

 

Those who preceded her in death include her great-grandson Devin Revia.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Broussard’s.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Revia, Jason Revia Chad Revia, Nigel Vessels, Joseph Stegall and Kip Toloudis.

 

The family wishes to thank all the caretakers at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas ICU, 3rd Floor South Tower, nurses and staff at Harbor Hospice and especially Dr. Brauer, Dr. Holland and Dr. Arfeen.
