Helen Ruth Tyler 
January 29, 1935 - March 12, 2011

Helen Ruth Tyler, 76, of Nederland died, March 12, 2011, at Cypress Glen East Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born January 29, 1935 in Marvell, Arkansas and resident of the area for forty-two years, Helen was a floral designer with Helen’s Gift and Flowers and had also worked with Thompson’s Florist.  She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Mission and volunteered with Odyssey Hospice.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Ester Shah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Faye Schkade of Fredericksburg; stepchildren, Laura Curtice of Buna and John Tyler of Yazoo City, Mississippi; sisters, Hazel Odom and her husband Steve and Peggy Thames and her husband Delbert all of Port Neches; brothers, Buddy Nolen and his wife Vera of Corpus Christi and Kenneth Nolen and his wife Sheila of Deer Park; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Tyler; father, Oren Nolen; mother, Georgetta Nolen Day; brother, George Nolen; and nephew, Steve Nolen.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena, Nederland followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Nolen, Keith LaBier, Kevin Grinnell, Herman Miller, Ronnie Curtice, and Aaron Dozier. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday evening, March 14, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the church.
