Dorothy Wallace Jordan, 87, of Kountze passed away Monday, March, 7, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Forest, Texas on October 15, 1923, to Beulah Mae and Elmer L. Wallace. Dorothy was a nurse at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kountze. She later opened “The Quilt Box” in Kountze on Highway 69 where she and her talented team of quilters produced and sold those lovely works of art. It was a source of pleasure to her to be able to display her handmade quilts in so many areas of the country. She was a member of the Golden Triangle Quilters Guild, The Barn Bats and S.C.A.T. She had been a resident of Kountze Nursing Center for the past six years where she made many friends of both residents and staff.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Cleveland and her husband Robert of Lumberton and Charlotte Wimer and her husband Calvin of Kountze; sons, David Jordan of Fort Worth and Mark Jordan and his wife Trudy of Kountze; twelve grandchildren, Ron Cleveland of Lumberton, Kay Dresden of Katy, Jennifer Williams of Lumberton, Angella Newsom of Douglass, Alicia Taylor of Lumberton, Anthony “Tony” Flower of Kountze, Andrea Hickman of Daisetta, Sarah Nicole “Nicki” Jordan of Fort Worth, Mandy Coplen of Kountze, Kim Woods of Kountze, Lyndsey Fox of Kountze, and Corey Jordan of Kountze; twenty-five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with burial to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, March 11, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
