Otis Lee Johse, 79, of Hamshire died March 4, 2011, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

A native of East Bernard, Otis lived in the Hamshire area since 1958. He retired from the maintenance department of Texas Gulf Sulfur and was a veteran of the United States Marines. Otis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knight’s of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Loretta Johse; daughter, Lea Ann Cossey and her husband Hoggie; son, Russell Scott Johse all of Hamshire; granddaughters, Leslie Ann Young, Lara Ashley Cossey, Samantha Rae Diaz; great-grandsons, Kasyn Diaz and Roman Young; brother, Lester Johse and his wife Yvonne of Wharton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hattie Johse and sister, Dorothy Ludwig.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Rd. in Fannett with burial in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
