Arnold Pelt, 79, of Sour Lake passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at his home following a long battle with cancer surrounded by his friends and family. He was born November 15, 1931, in Pine Ridge to Charlie Culberson and Mirtie (Jacobson) Pelt. A lifelong resident of Sour Lake, he started his career in the oil and gas industry over fifty years ago and ended his career as Vice President of Petroleum Well Service in Sour Lake.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Pearl Pelt; children, David Pelt and his wife Connie, Bobby Pelt and his wife Renee, Marilyn (Sissy) Pelt Wall, and Judy Pelt Bonner and her husband Craig; seven granddaughters, Christy Craigen, Michelle Thompson, Debra Rowell, Kim Fontenot, Karla Johnson, Lisa Ramirez, and Jodie Bonner; eighteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Pelt and his wife Vickie and Alton Pelt; and his precious cat Sadie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Pelt; his mother, Mirtie Pelt; sister, Kathy Hatcher; son-n-law, Buck Wall; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Pelt.
His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, 13430 FM 421, Kountze with burial to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be Thursday, March 3, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze.
