Susan Irene Horn 
January 6, 1945 - February 20, 2011

Susan Blasko Horn, 66, of Lumberton died quietly in her sleep Sunday, February 20, 2011, at her residence.

 

Susan was born January 6, 1945, in Carmichael, Pennsylvania.  She is now at peace and free from suffering following a lengthy serious illness.  She was a registered nurse and worked at several hospitals in the Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Silsbee areas.  She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an associate degree in nursing at Lamar University.  After leaving nursing, she did some teaching in health occupations.  She loved reading, her cats, and traveling.  She made several trips to Europe and traveled out west annually for several years. 

 

She is survived by her brother, Andrew Blasko and his wife Vessela Misheva; nieces, Elisabeth Blasko Kjenstad, Genoveva Misheva, and Joanna Misheva Blasko all of Sweden; cousin, Irene Soltis of Pennsylvania; her two faithful feline companions, Choux (Shoe) and Rascal; and many friends and caregivers whose lives she touched, including Angela Thorne Rodriquez of Tucson, Arizona, her closest friend of over thirty-five years.   

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Horn of Vidor; and parents, John and Anna Blasko.

 

Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas  77038 under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

 

A private celebration of her life will be held.  She requested that no flowers be sent; instead please make a donation to your local Humane Society in Susan’s memory.
