Richard Norwood Evans, Sr., 86, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in Houston. Born August 23, 1924, in Waco, to Sara Catherine Campbell Evans and Robert Warren Evans, he was a resident of the Beaumont area for many years. Richard was a practicing trial attorney and loved his second life as a West Texas rancher for many years.  An Eagle Scout, he returned to scouting as a scoutmaster in the 1950’s and continued with his son in the scouting program.  Richard was a licensed pilot and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Eloise Evans of Beaumont; daughter, Kathryn Iles and her husband George of Lumberton; son, Richard Evans II and his fiancé Kim Fortney of Beaumont; brothers, Charles Evans of Houston and Robert Evans and his wife Dianne of Fort Worth; grandchildren, George Iles IV and his wife Abby, Robert Norwood Evans, and Kemmerley Kelley Evans; and great-grandchildren, George Iles V, and Melanie Iles.

His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, with a gathering of his family and friends to immediately follow in the church parlor under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. The committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
