Dorothy Marie Gandy Cooley, 68, of Kountze died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Kountze Nursing Center.  She was born August 5, 1942, in Honey Island to Emery Earl (Buster) and Hazel (Williams) Gandy.  Dorothy retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with thirty-five years of service.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Cummings and her husband Kevin of Kountze; grandson, Koby Cummings; sisters, Helen Wessels and her husband George of Altair and Hazel Matthews and her husband Ralph of South Houston; brothers, Ray Gandy and his wife Jan of Vinton, Louisiana, Charles Gandy and his wife Clarece of Kountze, and Don Gandy and his wife Pam of Kountze; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gandy of Beaumont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Robert Hall officiating.  A gathering of family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium.
