Jeffry “Jeff” Burgess, 57, of Nederland, died Sunday, February 20, 2011.  Born on September 27, 1953 to Nyda Elaine Lash and Gordon Calvin Burgess in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a resident of the Nederland area since 1977.  Jeff was in the United States Army, and will always be remembered by those that knew him as a man with deep love for his family. He was always smiling and was also a large NASCAR fan. July fourth and New Years Eve were among his favorite holidays because of his love of fireworks.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Loretta Klebe Burgess; daughter, Melissa Hatcher and her husband Raymond of Nederland; son, Scott Burgess and Ariel East of Nederland; grandchildren, Emily Hatcher, Karcyn Burgess, Rileigh Burgess and Mikayla Hatcher; brothers, David Burgess and his wife Lesley of Beaumont and Steve Burgess and his wife Joyce of Zephyrhills, Florida; and sisters, Joyce Stewart of Geneva, Ohio, Tresa Lawson and her husband Jerry of Madison, Ohio and Tami Russell of Painesville, Ohio.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Janet Burgess and Nydan Gallito.

His funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of his family and friends will begin from 4:00 p.m. until  time of service Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Broussard’s.
