Jerome “Jerry” Clement Valenta, Sr., 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Gracy Woods Nursing Home in Austin.

Born July 1, 1920, in Gonzales, Texas, Jerry had lived most of his life in the Beaumont area and was a retired contractor with Brown & Root. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II.

He is survived by his sons, Jerome C. Valenta, Jr. of San Antonio and August N. Matocha and his wife Barbara of Austin; brother, Robert Valenta and his wife Ruth of Gonzales; six grandchildren, Lisa Valenta, Britt Valenta, Philip Valenta, John Matocha, Cara Jacks and Matt Matocha; and four great grandchildren, Madilyn, Kayleigh, Ryann and Andrew.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with a committal at 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  A gathering of his family and friend will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at Broussard’s.
