Phyllis Cormier-DeCoux, 48, of Patterson, Louisiana, died Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Tesche Regional Hospital in Morgan City, Louisiana. A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Phyllis had lived most of her life in Port Acres before residing in Abbeville for the last thirteen years. She was born March 11, 1962, to Annie Joyce Elkins Cormier and Joseph Lester Cormier. She enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family. Phyllis will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Survivors include her husband of six years, Russell DeCoux of Abbeville, Louisiana; daughters, Brie Morrell and her husband John of Beaumont, Brittney Vargas and her husband Joey of Houston, Bailey Mirabella of Groves, and Destiny Landry and her husband Brock of New Iberia, Louisiana; parents, Joyce and Joe Cormier of Port Arthur; two grandchildren, Rocco Morrell and Luca Morrell; and sisters, Renetta Cormier and Mitzi Nolan and her husband Leonard all of Nederland. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Cormier. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011, at Church On The Rock in Beaumont with burial to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the church.
