William “Bill” Benson Morgan, Sr., 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 17, 2011. He was born July 24, 1916, to Edward Henry Morgan and Emma Cunningham Ramsay in Hornbeck, Louisiana.

Bill graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School, Daisetta, Texas. He attended New York University and University of Houston. In his early years he was connected with his Father in the family lumber business.

In 1946, he married Grace Robertson. They have three children.

In 1947, he joined Dallas Williams Furniture Company and became owner and operator in 1960. Later he owned and operated Morgan’s Furniture. He was widely known in the furniture world and served as a Director in the National Furniture Association for many years. He retired from the furniture business at the age of ninety.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Morgan; step-mother, Dovie Morgan; and his sister, Ursula Morgan Clark.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Grace Morgan; three children, Linda Fowler and her husband Jay of Fort Worth, Bill Morgan and his wife Patricia of Beaumont, and  Janice Hebert and her husband Mike of Beaumont; eleven grandchildren, Kristy Morgan Clearman, Karen Morgan Lloyd, Kelly Morgan Judkins, William “Will” Benson Morgan III, Kimberly Jones Morrison, Scott Jones, Andy Jones, Jason Hebert, Ryan Hebert, Melissa Hebert, Mary Jones Hambright; seventeen great-grandchildren; a whole host of nieces and nephews; and his wonderful caregivers Carolina, Sofia, and others who ministered and cared for him during his illness.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February, 20, 2011, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Broussard’s.
