Alice Mather McKellar 
December 7, 1922 - February 16, 2011

Alice Mather McKellar, 88, of Beaumont died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at her home surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends.  She was born December 7, 1922, in Charlotte, South Carolina, to Edward Whiting and Suda Melvin Mather.  A fifty-seven year Beaumont resident, she devoted her life to creating a loving home for her family. Alice and her husband, Ed were longtime members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

 

Survivors include her children, Kathleen McKellar Vincent of Beaumont, William Mather McKellar and his wife Michelle of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Pamela McKellar Johns and her husband David of Austin; brother, Edward Whiting Mather and his wife Jo of Denton; sister-in-law, Betty Lou McKellar of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, Nell Brown, Grace Brown, Mary Brown, Kathryn Vincent Roden, Anne Linder Vincent, Leah Wolf, Dillon Johns, and Wes McKellar Johns; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Lawrence Roden, Jane Linder Roden, and Benjamin Vincent Roden; and nieces, Susan Laue, Sharon Sweitzer, and Shirley Alice Schafer.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, William Edwin McKellar, Jr.; her parents; her daughter, Susan McKellar; and her brother, Richard Mather.

 

Alice was a beloved grandmother, mother and friend who will be greatly missed.

 

Her memorial service is 1:30 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
