Nancy Elizabeth Masters 
December 5, 1932 - February 3, 2011

Heaven welcomed a new angel on February 3, 2011. Nancy Elizabeth Masters passed away at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth after a lengthy illness. Nancy was born on December 5, 1932, to Elgin and Laura Varcoe in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.

 

Nancy grew up and attended school in Bowmanville. While in high school, Nancy met Donald, the love of her life. After she had completed high school, she went on to study nursing at Civic Hospital in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada where she completed her degree. Nancy and Donald were married on August 6, 1954, in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. They were blessed with two sons, John and David. Being the good wife, Nancy made a loving home for her family in all the places that Donald’s career took them. Among the stops they made were Toronto, Collingwood, Quebec City, Akron, Ohio and Menominee, Michigan, making lifelong friends along the way. When Donald retired they found themselves in Greensboro, Georgia, it was there that they tried their hand at boating and fishing making more friends. In the spring of 2006, they decided to move to Beaumont to be closer to family. Nancy was a wonderful cook and she was an extremely gifted artist, a trait that she passed on to her grandchildren.

 

Nancy will be missed by so many; she will be deeply missed by her family.

 

Survivors include her beloved husband, Donald Masters of Beaumont; sons, John Masters of Collingwood, Ontario, Canada and David Masters and his wife Donna of Beaumont; granddaughters, Julie Masters and Christina Masters, both of Houston, and Caroline Masters of Beaumont; brother, Michael Varcoe and his wife Beverly of Aurora, Ontario, Canada; cousins, Catherine Hawley of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada and Jane Tulley of Keene, Ontario, Canada; nieces, Elizabeth Varcoe of Vancouver, British Columbia and Laura Varcoe of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

 

Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2011, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware, Beaumont, with Reverend Nancy DeForest officiating, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Guild Room, with a reception to follow after her service in Broce Hall. A family committal will be held under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont.
