Jackie Gonzales, 77, of Nederland, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Mary in Port Arthur.  Born February 1, 1933, in Fairdale to Damie Mitchell and Jackson Smith, she had been a resident of Nederland for fifty-five years. 

She was raised in Pineland and worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell until she devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. Jackie was a fun-loving person, always ready for adventure and loved to play games.  She was most proud of her six children and their accomplishments; most of all she loved spoiling her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Albert Gonzales.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Gaylon Gonzales and his wife Ila of Beaumont, Dennis Gonzales and his wife Deborah of Willis and Gary Gonzales and his wife Lydia of Broomfield, Colorado; daughters, Gayla Love and her husband Ernie of Huntsville, Carol McKeever and her husband Rick of Nederland and Kerri Broussard and her husband Scott of Nederland; grandchildren, Jennifer Gonzales, Julie Sherman, Donovan and Jamie Klingman, Denise Bunger, Brian McKeever, Stacey Gonzales, Rachael and Nathan Gonzales, Jackson, Lauren, Colton and Landon Broussard; and nine great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland with Reverend Malcolm Monroe officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2011, at Broussard’s.
