Shortly after midnight on January 14, 2011, the angels carried our precious Joan Hale Davis to heaven.  She was born on August 12, 1939 to T. J. and Evelyn Hale, attended schools in Beaumont, and completed her education at Lamar State College, becoming a teacher.  Joan was a talented designer, making decorative cakes, porcelain dolls, and unique clothing.  She enjoyed reading and taking care of her family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter, Madalyn Pepper.  Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Troy Davis of Nederland; daughters, Deborah Joan Gontarek and her husband Jeff of Nederland and Gwendolyn Jayne Davis of Houston; grandchildren, Deborah Louvier Pepper and her husband Willie of Port Neches and Alex Louvier of Houston; great-grandchildren, Mark Blood, Michael Louvier, and Matthew Pepper; sisters, Janet Brewster of Irving and Vicki McCown and her husband Richard of Beaumont; uncles, aunts, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m.  Monday, January 17, 2011 at Triangle Baptist Church, 3605 N. Highway 69, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery in Tyler County at 3:00 p.m.  A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Broussard’s.
