Evelyn Edith Bernard 
September 3, 1922 - December 28, 2010

Evelyn Bernard, 88, of Nederland died December 28, 2010 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.  Born September 3, 1922 in Port Arthur, she was the daughter of Myrtle Landry and John Albert Root.  Mrs. Bernard enjoyed playing cards and going to the casinos. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Altar Society, the Women’s Guild, and was an Eucharistic Minister.

 

She is survived by her husband, Terrell Bernard of Nederland; daughter, Susan Zook of Nederland; son, Mike Bernard and his wife Dottie of Nederland; brother, Herman Root and his wife Elsie of Katy; sister, Betty Dalby and her husband Billy of Nederland; grandchildren, Chris Campbell, Catherine Penn, Clint Campbell, Corey Campbell, Misty Little, Paul Bernard, and Randy Rice; seventeen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Campbell; grandson, Craig Campbell; and brother, J. D. Root.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church followed by burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, December 30, 2010 with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m at Broussard’s.
