Dewey Meadow, 81, of Nederland died December 26, 2010 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Born August 17, 1929 in Corrigan, Texas and longtime resident of the area, Mr. Meadow was the son of Lottie and Claude Everette Meadow. He was a United States Army veteran and for forty-three years was a pipe fitter with Pipefitters Local 195.
Mr. Meadow liked to fish and hunt and rode his bicycle after he retired. His grandchildren was his life and he always attended every event they would participate in. He was a good hardworking special man, with an easy going, laid back “whatever” disposition. He had a way of making everyone feel special. Amazing, kind and loving are the qualities which describe him.
He is survived by his children, Sandy Holdsworth of Groves, Sharon Tompkins and her husband Danny of Nederland and Ronald Harwell of Lumberton; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Meadow is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Meadow; brother, Donnis Meadow; and sister, Mary Duke.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland followed by burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Tompkins, Dylan Tompkins, Dustin Harwell, Josh Harwell, Matt Wright, and Chase Fondren. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday evening, December 28, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
