James Powell, 73, of Port Arthur died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. A native and lifetime resident of Port Arthur, Mr. Powell was retired from the street department for the City of Port Arthur and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Powell is survived by his daughter, Melissa Pena and her husband Roel of Port Arthur; and granddaughter, Sophia Pena of Port Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Powell.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.
