Nicholas “Nick” Chu, 69, of Beaumont died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.  Nick was born in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii on August 16, 1941, to Katherine and Kenneth Chu.  A Beaumont resident for twenty-five years, he was a retired ship captain.

Survivors include his wife, Dusti Chu of Beaumont; daughters, Lani McCann and her husband Craig of Salem, Utah, Maile Chu of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Jade Lougren and her husband Per of Olathe, Kansas; sons, Kenneth Chu of Orem, Utah and Lane Giffin of New Braunfels; eight grandchildren; and sister, Pua Janusz of Reno, Nevada.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.  A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Broussard’s.
