John L. Hignett, Jr., 67, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010. He was born August 13, 1943, in Greeley, Colorado to Elsie Claire Hignett and John L. Hignett, Sr., and had been a resident of the Beaumont area for many years. John worked as a field supervisor in the oil field industry for Dowell Schlumberger, Bevil Oaks Utility District, and Provine School Pictures.

His  survivors include his wife, Elaine Hignett; daughters, Valerie Brocato and her husband Jay and Amanda “ Mandy” Jones; son, Daren Hignett and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Travis Brocato,  Chelsie Brocato, Macy Brocato, Paten Jones, Daylen Hignett, and Brandon Hignett; brother, Richard Hignett and his wife Karen;and nephew, J.R. Hignett.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, with entombment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A Christian Vigil will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2010, at Broussard’s with a gathering of family and friends to follow.
