Ouida Powell 
December 10, 1919 - December 12, 2010

Ouida Powell, 91, of Fannett, died Sunday, December 12, 2010.  She was born December 10, 1919, in Pawnee, Louisiana to Maud Pace and Alfred Parker.

 

A lady who knew who she was and lived a long and meaningful life, she had the privilege of watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow into accomplished individuals.

                    

Ouida will be remembered by her family and a wide circle of friends who shared her interests and reveled in her wit and honesty.  She loved bowling so much that she bowled two games the week before Thanksgiving.  Ouida had been bowling for almost fifty years.  She also enjoyed a good game of cards, conversation, history, dining out, and living an upright life.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Ouida Ann Broussard and her husband Wesley of Fannett; grandson, Wes Broussard, Jr. and his wife Joni of Hamshire; granddaughter, Trisha Honea and her husband Sean of Fannett; great grandchildren, Calob Broussard, Kaitlyn Watson and Kelsi Honea; numerous loving family members and friends; and her bowling buddies.

 

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of fifty-eight years, G.J. “Gee” Powell.

 

Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Broussard’s.
