Archie Ray Gillie

Archie Ray Gillie of Archie Ray spent years working in the oilfields, and then began his career as a truck driver. He was the proud owner of Gillie Trucking before his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed drinking coffee with friends, shooting the “bull” with anyone who would listen, sideline coaching, listening to Cajun music, and most importantly, “Gillie Time” with his family. Archie Ray was a kind-hearted man who would do anything for anyone and always had a funny comment to say whenever the opportunity arose. Even in his last days, he was entertaining his caregivers with his humor. He is survived by the mother of his children, Roberta Leger Gillie; son, Bobby Gillie and his wife, Tina of High Island; daughters, Liz Kane and her husband, Neil of Nome, Oleta Brown and her husband, David of Lumberton, Benita Davis and her husband, Greg of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Kristina Earles, James Kane, Kandi Kane, Dillon O’Quinn, Ashley Brown, Brock Davis; great grandchildren, Braydon Kane and Gunner Kane; brother Lenard Gillie; sister, Sherry Vause and numerous nieces and nephews. Archie Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Oleta Jewel Gillie and his brother, Harley Gillie. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 13, 2010, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 1308 Weeks Avenue in The family wishes to express our appreciation to the staff of Harbor Hospice House, not only for the wonderful care given to our dad, but for the special attention and care given to the family as well.
