Grover Addison Dowden 
December 23, 1927 - December 3, 2010

Grover Addison Dowden was born December 23, 1927, and went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2010.  He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1945 and joined the Navy in 1946.  He worked for Mobil Oil Refinery for thirty-seven years and retired in 1985.  On March 17, 1951, he married his true love, Jackie Wilson and had three daughters, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

 

Grover was a loving and faithful husband, father, brother, son and friend.  He could build and fix anything, loved to garden, work at the farm, enjoyed spending time with his family and was a faithful member of Rosedale Baptist Church since 1957. A strong, kind, loving, generous, hard working Christian man who was always helping others will be missed by all who knew him. 

 

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Jackie Wilson Dowden; daughters, Tracie Mayeaux of Lumberton; Laurie Mackan and her husband Emmett of Beaumont; Amy Burlison and her husband Scott of Fredericksburg; and sister, Sally Dowden.  Paw Paw is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Sara, Calyn and Caleb Mayeaux; Laura Brooke, Kevin, and Lucas Mackan; Scott, Addison and Alex Burlison; and one precious great grandchild, Christian Hargraves.

 

Grover Addison Dowden is preceded in death by his parents Audra and G.C. Dowden.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010, at Rosedale Baptist Church, 7110 Concord Road, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.   A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Broussard’s on Major Drive.
