Elbert Marcus Choate, Jr., 76, of Winnie died November 13, 2010, at the Arboretum of Winnie.

A native of Port Neches, Elbert lived in the Winnie area for forty-five years and was a retired carpenter. He loved his family and friends, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4955 Pine in Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Broussard’s.

Elbert is survived by his wife, Karen Choate; sons, Doug Choate and his wife Sandy, Don Choate and his wife Rachael all of Winnie and Mike Choate of Las Vegas, Nevada,; daughters, Kathrine White and her husband Bill, and Ashley Hendrix all of Stowell; brother, Paul Choate, Sr. and his wife Evelyn of Beaumont; sisters, Patsy Lindsey and her husband C. R. and Marie Luker and her husband Al all of Winnie; grandchildren, Mary White, Kyle White, Sean Prejean, Jessi Choate, Kayla Choate, Keith Choate, Kyle Choate, Byron Choate and Austyn Choate; great-granddaughter, Madison Prejean and numerous relatives and friends.
