James Melvin Berwick 
February 15, 1940 - November 12, 2010

Melvin Berwick, 70, of Winnie passed away November 12, 2010, at his home after a battle with cancer.

 

He was born to Lorraine and Walter Berwick in Beaumont, Texas, was raised in High Island, and also lived in the Winnie – Hamshire area. Melvin was a commercial shrimper, oilfield hand, striped cars for different car dealerships in the Winnie and Baytown areas and most recently was a vendor at Larry’s Trade Days.

 

Melvin was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Winnie.

 

Survivors include his best friend and wife of fifty-one years, Carolyn Hebert Berwick; one daughter Nikki Pevito and her husband Lynn of Minnesota; grandchildren, Amanda Pevito and her fiancé Paul Staton, Amy Cassidy and her husband Adam, Brian Pevito and his wife Amanda, John Pevito, Sherry Pevito, Jonee' Pevito, Justin Pevito, Nathan Pevito, Matthew Pevito, and Annia Pevito; one great granddaughter, Alexis Cassidy, all of Minnesota; one sister, Lilly McGowan of Angleton, Texas; two brother-in-laws, Jackie Hebert and his wife Cindy of Louisiana and Mike Hebert and his wife Gayle of Humble, Texas and nieces and nephews that he enjoyed and loved dearly.

 

Funeral services are at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie, burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday at Broussard’s.
