Col. Billy G Nix 
November 12, 1930 - October 26, 2010

Col. Billy G. Nix, 79 of Nederland died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Senior Rehabilitation Center in Port Arthur.

 

A native of Mountain View, Oklahoma, he has lived in Nederland for the last four years. He retired with thirty-two years of service from the United States Air Force with his last assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

 

Col. Nix had a distinguished military career, which culminated with him receiving the highest military peace time award, The Department of Defense Commendation Medal.  Following his military career he distinguished himself as a Vice President for Boeing Military Aircraft Company.

 

He died peacefully surrounded by his family.  He has left a legacy of his personal faith and his commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to his friends and family.

 

Col. Nix is survived by his wife, Doris Nix of Nederland, Texas; daughters, Vicki Nix of McKinney, Texas, Pamela Sawisky and her husband Dr. David of Nederland, Texas,  and Tammy Alford and her husband Lt. Col. Lionel of Wichita, Kansas; sons, Dr. Chris Nix and his wife Karen of McCook, Nebraska, Dr. Donald Nix and his wife Cathy of Frisco, Texas; sisters, Delwanda Dykes and her husband Doyle of Garland, Texas  and Brenda Jeme Nix of Mesquite, Texas; ten grandsons, six granddaughters, two great grandsons, and five great granddaughters.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, Perry Joe Nix and his brother, Snead DeLon Nix.

 

Graveside service to be held  2:00 pm, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Sappington Cemetery in Cowden, Oklahoma.
