Nell Sherman Jones, 79, of Beaumont, died Monday, October 4, 2010.  She was born October 5, 1930, in Port Arthur to Elda Doiron and William Sherman, Sr., Nell had been a lifelong resident of the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. She was a retired school teacher and counselor.

Survivors include her daughter, Patti Turner and her husband Sandy of Nederland; son, Spencer William Jones and his fiancé Gail Baker of Brenham; grandchildren, Jay D. Gibson of Kilgore, David Thomas Gibson of Magnolia, Jeff Rebel Jones and Julie Lane Jones both of Houston; great grandchildren, Lillian, Tanner, Dustin, Lily, Bailey and Liam; her best friend, Brenda Friemel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rebel B. Jones; her parents; and her brothers, James Edward Sherman and William Nachman Sherman, Jr.

Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Broussard’s.
