Gloria V. Sterling Merendino, 85, of Bevil Oaks, died Monday, September 20, 2010, in Beaumont.  

A native and lifelong resident of the Beaumont area; Gloria was born on July 15, 1925, to Molly Goff and Murphy Sterling.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Louis E. “Cotton” Merendino, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Louis “Bud” Merendino and his wife Lindy of Bevil Oaks; daughters, Janet Bean and her husband Chris of Port Neches, Sandra Nesom and her husband Lon of Silsbee;  grandchildren, Patrick Sullivan of Austin, Eric Sullivan and his wife Echo of Port Neches, Michael Sullivan and his wife Jamie of Leander, Melanie Nesom Colunga and her husband Lenny of Round Rock, Greg Nesom of Conroe, Jeffery Nesom and his wife Jennifer of Beaumont, Jason Merendino and his wife Jamie of Lumberton, Jamie Merendino of Austin, Justin Merendino and his wife Tesa of Houston, Morgan Finch and Austin Merendino both of Benton, Louisiana; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Cone and her husband Ted; and brothers, Demp Sterling, Robert Sterling, Roland Sterling, Willard Sterling and James Sterling.

Along with her husband, Gloria is preceded in death by one brother, Murphy Sterling; and by her baby daughter, Janice Merendino.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with her eight grandsons serving as pallbearers. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September, 23, 2010, at Broussard’s.
