Hansel Lyday Tarkington, 84, of Nederland died, Saturday, September 18, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Tarkington was a native of Port Arthur and a lifelong resident of Nederland. She loved to play games, people, enjoyed going to the casino, her house was always open to anyone and most of all she loved her family.

Mrs. Tarkington is survived by her husband, Larry Tarkington of Nederland; daughter, Myrna Morgan and her husband Lloyd of Port Arthur; granddaughter, Shanna Arnaud Arrighi and her husband David of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandson, Lance “Bubba” Arnaud of Port Neches; two great grandchildren, Christina “Chrissy” and Cameron Tolbert; sister, Frances Prewitt; niece Jeanette Nelken of Greenville, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lyday; two sons, Charles and Rodney Lyday.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland with Pastor Jeffrey Ellis officiating with burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Broussard’s.
