Willie Clyde Stuart, 88, of Nederland, died on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Magnolia Manor in Groves.

W. C. was born in Huntington, Texas and has lived in Nederland the last fifty years.  Willie served in the Navy in WWII and the Korean War.  After working thirty three years at Neches Butane, he retired to enjoy a life of gardening, hunting, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their Papa Stu.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Stuart. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Betty; son, David Stuart, of Clear Lake; daughters, Lisa Smith and husband Randy, of Nederland, and Sheila Bass and husband, Jim, of Nederland; grandchildren, Justin Owens and wife Jessica, Sarah Stratton and husband Curtis, Hunter Bass and wife Emily, Evan Foxworth, Kathryn Stuart, and William Stuart; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Pyper Stratton, Joshua Owens, Lillian Bass; brother, Wayne Stuart and wife Lucy; sister, Mildred Telford; half brothers, Frank Renda and wife Veronica, and Pete Renda, Jr. and wife Betty; half sister, Marlene Lantz. 

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010, at Broussard’s in Nederland with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to service time.
