Dania W. Anderson 
June 15, 1917 - September 11, 2010

Dania Waddell Anderson, 93, of Beaumont passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.

 

She was born June 15, 1917, in Grapeland, Texas to William David and Ethel (Guice) Waddell and has resided in Beaumont since 1947. Dania was valedictorian of the Class of 1934 at Grapeland High School.  She then went to Baylor University where she worked her way through school and graduated with honors in 1938.  Dania met Jack Anderson on a blind date and they were married on October 12, 1940. She taught high school mathematics while her husband served in the Army during World War II. 

 

Dania worked for Service Painting Company and Brock Enterprises for forty years, and retired in 1990.  She was a faithful member of South Park Baptist Church from the 1950’s until her death.  She was also a dedicated Lamar basketball fan and rarely missed a game during the many years she and Jack had season tickets.  Dania was a strong and capable woman who valued education and living a life of faith and family.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Charla Hawkins and her husband Charlie; son, David Anderson and his wife Darlene; grandchildren, Kristen Hawkins Taylor, Shannon Hawkins Simmons, Darren Hawkins, and Kelly Anderson Scofield; great-grandchildren, Ashley Simmons, Kylie Simmons, Jackson Scofield, and Garrett Scofield; sisters, Reba Reeves and Moggie Breeding; brother, W.D. Waddell; sister-in-law, Faye Caston; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. “Jack” Anderson.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at South Park Baptist Church, 795 Woodrow, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
