Alvie Stacy Whatley, 80 of Port Neches died September 2, 2010 at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Reverend Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at Broussard’s.

Mr. Whatley was a native of Lone Pine, Louisiana and has lived in Port Neches since 1958. He retired from Reagent Chemical and Research in Port Arthur with thirty-five years of service. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and served his country in the Korean War.

Mr. Whatley was preceded in death by his grandson Chris Smith. He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Clara Whatley of Port Neches; two daughters, Stacia Harmon and her husband Stan of Manassas, Virginia; Gaynelle Belaire of Port Neches; two granddaughters, Kennah Belaire of Port Neches, Shelby Harmon of Manassas, Virginia; sister-in-law, Claudine Vidrine and numerous nieces and nephews.
