Mr. Kay Burk, 89, of Groves, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Born August 3, 1921, in Bullard to Nellie Brock and Sherman Burk; Mr. Burk had been a long time resident of the Beaumont area before residing in Groves. He was an independent adjuster for various banks in the area and was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Burk of Groves; daughters, Brenda Tatum of Huntsville and Gloria Brockhoeft and her husband Skip of Livingston; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; step-children, Bob Lovelace of Bridge City, Daryl Lovelace of Houston, Ronnie Lovelace of Port Arthur, Marla Walters of Groves and Marcy Townsend of Beaumont; fifteen step-grandchildren; nine step-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-three years, Gatha Burk; his parents; son-in-law, Bill Tatum; brother, Guy Burk; sister, Grace Tarrant and his twin sister, Fay Ellis. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Broussard’s. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Harbor Hospice for their kindness and care of Mr. Burk and the entire Burk family.
