Walter Marion Sekaly 
April 7, 1929 - August 17, 2010

Walter Marion Sekaly, 81, of Beaumont, fell asleep in the Lord Tuesday, August 17, 2010. He was born in Beaumont on April 7, 1929, at the Hotel Dieu to Gladys Marion Allen and Walter Constantine Sekaly.

 

Walter was a well known and respected attorney in Beaumont.  After graduating Law school he returned to Beaumont, opened his Law office in 1956 and was recently honored by the Texas Bar association for exemplary service for over fifty years.

 

He was an active member of St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church where he was chanter, Parish Council member and member of several church organizations on the local and regional level.

 

After completing studies at University of Texas in 1955 he remained a life-long Longhorns fan. Walter was an avid reader and was always surrounded by books.

 

He is survived by his wife, Jo Carolyn; daughters, Kevin Cribbs and Jerraye-Jo Sherman; sons, Walter Jr. and Cody; step-son, Darold; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; countless friends and associates.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, at St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 680 North 15th Street, Beaumont, with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Broussard’s. A Trisagion service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.
