James was an avid fisherman.  He enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends.

He also enjoyed his annual hunting trips to Colorado with his dearest brother, Jay Johnson.  For the past eight years he devoted his time to taking care of his precious mother, Helen Patterson.  He was a devoted brother to Lavern, Brenda, and Judy and a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He had numerous dear friends.

James had two sons, Jody and Jeff that meant the world to him.  He was certainly a proud father.  He had one daughter-in-law, Kim that held a special place in his heart.

During his illness he was amazed at the number of cards and calls that he received.  He stated many times that he was a blessed man.  He loved his church, Calvary Baptist Church in Honey Island.  Most of all he loved Jesus. 

James went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.  When someone is loved as much as James was there will surely be a void.  Praise God that he is resting in Jesus’ arms, cancer free.
