Viola Marie Broussard, 92, of Richmond, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

She was born on May 3, 1918, in Beaumont, to Lucian and Eva (Seymour) Hebert. A long time resident of High Island, Viola was the owner/operator of Viola’s Beauty Shop.

Viola is survived by her daughter, Jimmie Lou Gillen of Richmond; sister, Joyce Jarvis of Marshall; grandchildren, Gary Gillen of Richmond and Terri Varvel of Katy; great-grandchildren, Nichole Gillen, Jennifer Gillen, Brittney Nobs, Tony Bradley, and Lexi Varvel; and great-great-granddaughter, Kristin Nobs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mayo Broussard; two brothers; and six sisters.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at St. Matthews Methodist Church in High Island with burial to follow at High Island Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at the church.
