Betty Brown Ritter, 85, of Beaumont died, August 6, 2010.  A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, she lived in Nederland in her youth, and had been a resident of Beaumont for more than sixty years.   She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and a past Board member and volunteer for The Treasure House.  Betty was a homemaker and worked in various capacities with her family’s business, Ritter Lumber Company.   She  is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Dr. James P. Ritter; her daughter and son-in-law, The Rev. Pat and Maurice Ritchie of Beaumont; and her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Jr. and Sherry Ritter of Beaumont, Allan and Peggy Ritter, and John and Sarah Ritter, all of Nederland.  She was also blessed with seven grandchildren; James, Peyton, and Will Ritter, Toni Budaus, Jessica Holmes, Caitlin Williams and Erin Tabor; plus bonus granddaughters, Anney Montalvo and Whitney Flores; and five great-grandchildren.   A service of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering and reception will follow in Broce Hall after her service.  A family committal will be later that afternoon at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.   In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to the Ubi Caritas Dental Clinic, 4450 Highland, Beaumont, Texas 77705.   We are deeply grateful for the Odyssey Hospice team that cared for Mom and the TLC she received from the caregivers at Emeritus Dowlen Oaks.
