William "Bill" Douglas Smith 
December 30, 1948 - August 2, 2010

William “Bill” Smith, 61 of Port Neches went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 2, 2010 after a long battle with Lymphoma.   A native of the Port Neches-Groves area, Bill lived most of his life in Port Neches and spent fourteen years in Bridge City. He was a graduate of Port Neches High School and received an education degree from Lamar University. He was an educator for three years and also owned a landscaping business before retiring from Dupont Beaumont Works. Bill was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches and Cowboy Church in Orange. Bill enjoyed Sunday School, teaching Vacation Bible School and assisting in building the fence for the upcoming childrens playground. He also loved hunting and fishing with his wonderful friends and spending time with his family.   Survivors include his wife, Judy of thirty-five years; daughters, Brandi Burks and her husband Brian, Leesa LeTulle and her husband James; sisters, Clara Nelle Smith and Jackie Sinegal; grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Blakely and Brooklyn; and his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Wanda Breaux of Port Neches. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jo; father, Floyd; and three brothers, Joe, John and George. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.   Gathering of family and friends will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Port Neches with a celebration of his life at 7:00 PM with Dr. David Mahfouz officiating under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to First Baptist Church in Port Neches Playground Fund.
