Laura Ruth Capps Thompson of Nederland, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Gulf Health Care Center.   Visitation will be form 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 5, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at Broussard’s in Nederland. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.   Ruth was born on February 22, 1918, in Personville, Limestone Co., Tx. to Thomas Wiley Capps and Laura Bernice Wilkinson Capps. Ruth and family moved to Lubbock in 1952 where they were faithful members of Sunset church of Christ for forty seven years. She worked for the Sunset School of Preaching as manager of the print room, taught many bible classes and assisted in bible workshops. She moved to Nederland Avenue Church of Christ.   Preceding Ruth in death was her husband of sixty eight years, Clifford, her parents, and three sisters, Wylene Norman, Dorothy Savage and Betty Hughes. She is survived by her three children, Roxane Shackelford, Ronald Thompson and wife Karen, all of Nederland, and Jerry Thompson of Plano; seven grandchildren, David Shackelford, Laura Anderson, Mark Thompson, Beth Williams, Kim Riggs, Kevin Thompson, and Tonya Harmon.   She also leaves twelve great grandchildren. Ruth was a Christian example and an artist making beautiful items out of clay and painting breath taking pictures. She continued her painting until October of 2009.   Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Tracy Williams, Keith Riggs, Luke Harmon, Ryan Thompson, Michael Thompson, and Taylor Williams.
