Mary Ann Whitley Sockler, 77, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

A native of Ozona, Texas, she was a longtime resident of Beaumont. Mary Ann was born February 5, 1933, to Mary Elizabeth Augustine and Hilton Elton North.  She was a graduate of Ozona High School, and attended Texas Christian University. Mary Ann was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, always willing to lend a hand or uplift a friend when needed.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. David Sockler of Beaumont; daughter, Elizabeth Whitley of Beaumont; sister, Janet North Russell and her husband Kyle of The Woodlands; nieces, Mary Frances Foster and Jennifer Foster; great niece, Sara Schoppa; and David’s children, son, Steven Sockler; and daughter, Allison Duesing. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Ollie Whitley.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
