Evelyn Ruth Birdwell, 76, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

She was a native of Batesville, Arkansas and resident of the Beaumont area for many years.  Evelyn was born May 23, 1934, to Bernice Smart Fulbright and Roy D. Fulbright and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Charles “Tony” Platt and his wife Tammy of Kinder, Louisiana; daughter, Vickie Tynes and her husband Alan of Beaumont; grandchildren, Summer LaBove, Dustin Platt, Crystal Zimmerman, Larry Young, Erica Ford, Ashley Pinion, Heather Foster, Heidi Barzare, and Hollis Barzare; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Clayton Fulbright of Vidor, and Larry Fulbright of Little Rock, Arkansas; numerous step-children and step-grandchildren; and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard Platt; brother, Roy “Bunkie” Fulbright; and sister, Geraldine Long.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A family committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium.
