James Dewey Guidry

Dewey Guidry, 82, of Hamshire was surrounded by family when he passed away on July 19, 2010, at his residence in Hamshire.

A native of Port Acres, Dewey had lived in the Hamshire area for over thirty years. He retired as an insulator after forty years and a member of Asbestos Union Local #22.

Dewey was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on Toledo Bend where many weekends and holidays were spent at his camp with his family. He took tremendous pride in everything he did.  Dewey loved working cows with his neighbors in the Hamshire area and treasured the friendships he had with the local ranchers. He was a skilled carpenter and taught home building to the younger generations of his family. Together they have built more than fifteen homes and completed countless other projects. From this, he leaves behind a family tradition of helping one another and a work ethic that few can match. His incredible legacy is present in every family project and event.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road in Fannett with burial in Oak Bluff Cemetery, 101 Block Street, Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W.
