Godfrey Oren Choate, 90, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 12, 2010. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont; Godfrey was born February 16, 1920, to Nora Baudoin Choate and W.J. Choate.  He was a retired environmental lab technician with Neches Butane Company and a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his children, Darla Choate Al-Jureidini and her husband Dr. Saadeh of St. Louis, Missouri, William Gary Choate of Beaumont, Thomas Lynn Choate and his wife Christene Zagone of Lafayette, Louisiana, Randal Craig Choate of Beaumont, Charlene Choate Muckridge and her husband Patrick of Houston, and Andrea Choate Descant and her husband Frank of Perth, Australia; grandchildren, Helen, Sami, and Shadi Al-Jureidini, Nicholas, Jaicee and Bailee Choate, Evan Muckridge, Katherine and Griffin Descant, Sandra Choate Caceres and her husband David and Emerson Choate and his wife Yvonne; great-grandchildren, Abbie, Ian and Dillon Choate and Liam Caceres; sisters-in-law, Alice Morris and Barbara Jane Richmond and her husband Gaylen,  Thelma Fischer Standley and her husband Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years, LaRue Choate; son, Robert Lee “Bobby” Choate; and sisters, Billie, Juanette and Gloria.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Broussard’s.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Professional Healthcare, home health and hospice divisions, and would like to give special thanks to Linda Frederick, Gillian Gillespie and Jeanette Tatum for their special care and attention to Godfrey during his time at home.
