Christine McLeod, 99, of China died July 3, 2010 at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation.  A native of Merryville, Louisiana and resident of the Meeker area for many years, Christine was a charter member of Meeker Baptist Church.  She loved flowers and quilting and worked in her yard until she was 96 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Delores Hill and her husband J.L. of China; grandchildren, Charles McLeod and his wife Cris of Beaumont and Josh Hill and his wife Connie of Country Wood; five great grandchildren; and special nieces, Jan Fite and Marilyn Fenton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, G. W. “Bill” McLeod; son, Lloyd McLeod; brother, Joe Kirl; and granddaughter, Winona Coe.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Meeker Baptist Church followed by burial at China Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday evening, July 6, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
