Mayfield Denton 
July 31, 1947 - June 20, 2010

Mayfield Denton, 62, of Baytown was called home by the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.

 

He was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on July 31, 1921, to Robert Denton, Sr. and Pearl Nelson Denton.  Mayfield spent the early part of his life in Winnie and graduated from East Chambers High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 and fought for his country in the Vietnam War. Mayfield also graduated from Lee College with an associate’s degree. A Baytown resident of thirty years, he was a retired security guard with Turner Industries.

 

Mayfield leaves to cherish his son; Patrick Denton and his wife, Darlene of Stowell; step-son, Lawrence Alfred, Jr. of Barrett Station; daughter, Anna Randle and her husband Travis of Winnie and Elizabeth Alfred of Barrett Station; step-daughters, JoAnna Houston and her husband Brian of Houston; Tera Simon and her husband Wayne of Pearland and Helen Alfred of Barrett Station; brother, Robert Denton, Jr. of Beaumont; sisters, Willie Mae Guillory of Beaumont, Jennie Williams and her husband, Richard of Freeport, Ruby Joseph of Beaumont, Sandra Batiste and her husband Tony of Winnie; aunt, Lucille Gibbs of Houston; twelve grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Denton and Samuel Denton; sister, Ollie Ruth Lewis.
