Catherine Wedgeworth 
December 1, 1927 - June 19, 2010

Catherine Wedgeworth, 82, of Sour Lake died Friday, June 19, 2010, surrounded by her family in Conroe, Texas.

 

She was born December 1, 1927, in Fisher, Louisiana to James Monroe and Elmina Catherine (Haynie) Campbell.

 

A Sour Lake resident for over fifty years, Catherine was a retired school teacher having taught at East Chambers for twenty-four years. Being the first write in candidate to win a seat on the Hardin Jefferson School Board, she then went on to serve as President. She was a longtime member of Calder Baptist Church. Catherine loved helping her friends with their taxes.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Rae Wedgeworth of Conroe; special daughter, Sharon Waganer; sisters, Emma Jean Hagar of Zwolle, Louisiana and Mary Luetkemeyer of Jasper; her beloved dog, Samantha Wedgeworth; and numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of friends and family.

 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Robert Ray Wedgeworth; brothers, James Monroe Campbell, William Amos Campbell, Andrew Burleson Campbell, Carlin Martin Campbell, Cleo Clinton Campbell; and sister, Faye Merritt. 

 

Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 N. llth Street, Beaumont with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake under the dierction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be Monday, June 21, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
